      <image:title>mixx - The Planning</image:title>
<image:caption>With having more than enough info to work with the project was ready to blast off. I interpreted the first style frame as a random assortment of shapes with no specific ruling or style. I saw this as a metaphor; their audience had just started using Mixx and the A.I. algorithm hasn’t quite figured out their listening style. I knew I had to transition from the first style frame to the second, which showed three shapes, a circle, triangle, and square. I saw an awesome opportunity to explain more on the metaphor, where as the user listened and used Mixx the shapes begin to become the same. In other words, the A.I. algorithm began to learn their listening style. After it figures their style out it hones down on the three shapes as they jump in excitement. After style frame two was built, I wanted to tell the story of the A.I. algorithm using the audience’s style to create a perfect mix. I felt like a great way of executing this was to have each asset in frame 2 connected to each other as they mix the shapes together. Finally, I wanted to conclude the story by explaining that the A.I. algorithm succeeded in the mixing and exploded into the music that the audience was now listening to. I felt like the perfect way to show this was by having everything from frame 2 to come together to anticipate the final explosion of shapes and the final style frame provided.</image:caption>

      <image:title>mixx - The Brief</image:title>
<image:caption>When School of Motion announced their Community Inclusion Scholarship my laptop instantly swung open and my heart began to beat faster. I was given a mock creative brief for a company named Mixx, an online music provider that uses an A.I. algorithm to learn from your listening style and help create the perfect mix. The brief explained that they needed an opening animation for their new branding videos and it had to be under 15 seconds. The brief consisted of three style frames, a color palette, a list of approved songs, and three videos that they were inspired by. Upon reading the brief my creative juices began flowing and the excitement heightened. It was time to plan out the animations and transitions and create an animatic to guide the animation.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I’m Anthony, a freelance motion designer and 3D animator in Columbus, Ohio. Motion design and 3D has been a huge passion that has followed my hobbies throughout my life. Aside from video, I love spending time with my partner exploring the amazing drinks and eats Columbus has to offer (check out her instagram: @columbusdrinksneats). On top of the local stuff we love traveling and seeing what other places, like cities and beaches, are about (the food and drink is always top of the to-do list). I also enjoy backpacking, live music, and being wowed by the natural wonders of the world. If you ever find yourself needing a good food or drink recommendation, or even to pick my brain about some fun motion design stuff, feel free to shoot me an email! <image:title>carbonguard - The Brief</image:title>
<image:caption>Nash Distribution came to our team at Greenbaum Stiers with the goal of creating a 3D video that highlighted a product which is designed to prevent foundation problems in basements. Nash already had an idea for what they wanted the video to look and sound like. My goal was to translate what they had provided me with and visualize it into a fully 3D video. The brief consisted of a script which was paralleled with their vision for the visuals. I was also given a icons to work with, a sales sheet, and a logo for Carbon Guard. After the initial creative meeting with Nash and knocking out some much needed clarity I was ready to start planning out the video.</image:caption>

      <image:title>carbonguard - The Planning</image:title>
<image:caption>Once the project had officially kicked off, I had to begin researching. What is carbon guard? What exactly does bowing, shifting and shearing mean? How can I recreate these answers in 3D? After learning a good deal about the product I had a well-rounded thought on how I would lay out the scenes, so I began drawing. The drawing process is perfect because I get to lay out my thoughts in a fairly short amount of time. I am able to experiment and start thinking about how I will execute the visuals once the 3D production actually begins. From drawing, I knew the crack would be the hardest part to create, especially within a time limit. After the planning phase I was able to have a client meeting to tie up some questions that had arose during the drawn storyboard phase. Communication is the number one way to clear up some confusion, so we quickly hashed out the problems I had and I began to create the 3D scene. Luckily from our previous projects I had worked on with Nash I already had a fully 3D house to work with. However, some parts needed to be updated. I wanted to make sure that everything in 3D was up to scale and as accurate as possible. After cleaning up the scene I began to create each keyframe in the storyboard and then render each image out to make a collection of style frames. At this point I had a clear idea of how everything was going to look from beginning to end and it was time to start creating the actual motion of the peice.</image:caption>
